Sikkim junior cricketers in NE camp

SE Report
GANGTOK: The u-16 team of Sikkim had a successful season in Vijay Merchant Trophy 2019-20, where they won all the matches in the league round and become the first team from Sikkim to qualify for the knock-out round of the tournament.
After this success, six players from the same team have been selected to attend Zonal Cricket Academy Camp for Northeast Zone to be held in the coming month, informs a press release from Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA).
Zonal Cricket Academy (ZCA) camp is a camp that is organised every year by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in all the six zones of India in which they look for cricketers who have potential and get them trained under the best coaches and support staffs of NCA.
The meeting for the u-16 ZCA camp was held in Aizwal, Mizoram on February 17 where representatives from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim attended.
The meeting was chaired by BCCI junior national selector Amit Sharma which was also attended by SICA selector Gyaphel Tshering Bhutia. The meeting was held to discuss and finalize the list of 25 players that will be attending the ZCA camp, based on their performance this domestic season.
Adarsh Pandey, Adiv Tamang, Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Sharim Iqbal, Tarun Sharma, and Obedonyx Subba have been selected for this camp from Sikkim.
Out of 25 players in the camp, six players are from Sikkim.
“It is a big achievement for SICA and the State, and as a selector, it is always a proud moment for us when our players perform well in the national level tournaments and are being picked by the national selectors for such camp where our players will learn from the best. I am thankful to SICA for working tirelessly and promoting cricket in the region where such talented players are coming up and doing well,” said Gyaphel Tshering.
