GANGTOK: Facing flak for allegedly making a sensitive remark over Income Tax exemption for the old settlers of Bihari community, Birendra Prasad, an executive member of Sikkim BihariJagaranManch (SBJM) today said the Manch is not batting for the issue of old settlers but working towards spreading brotherhood and cordial relation with all other communities in the State.
Hitting back atBihari community member Anil Gupta for launching a personal attack on him, Birendra Prasad today said Income Tax exemption is not an issue for Sikkim BihariJagranManch. “Our stand is with regards to spreading brotherhood and not the issue of old settlers or tax exemption. Gupta must apologise for labelling me wrong and we have never said that the issue of old settlers or tax exemption must not happen,” he said.
Prasad further demanded that organization such as the old settlers with as many as 2,716 members must be banned. Prasad added,“AamBihariKalyanManch or any other such organization which tries to create disharmony must be banned. They will terrorize the State and its communities. They must elect a new president and Act 145 must be implemented which has been supported by the State government, as per the petition of PremGoyal and RajyaSabha’s recommendation. The Act also counters influx from happening in Sikkim.”
