Authorities track six persons from Sikkim travelling in same flight with Kalimpong lady, to be placed under quarantine

GANGTOK: The authorities here have swiftly tracked down the six persons from Sikkim who had travelled from Chennai to Bagdogra on March 19 in the same Spicejet flight in which the Kalimpong-resident was travelling.
The Kalimpong lady was found to be COVID-19 positive, as per the test results revealed on Saturday evening. She had returned to her home town from Chennai.
As per information available with SIKKIM EXPRESS, six persons from Sikkim were also in the same flight. As reports of the Kalimpong-resident came positive for coronavirus, the Health department and the respective district administrations in Sikkim swung into action and took details of the people travelling in the same flight.
Six persons from Sikkim were found to have taken the same flight from Chennai to Bagdogra. Two of them are from East Sikkim and four were from West Sikkim.
District and Health workers formed teams to track these six persons and have established contact with them.
The standard operating protocol is to place the six persons and their families under observation in quarantine (home or government facility) as per the situation and advice of the medical teams, as told to SIKKIM EXPRESS. Their samples may also be taken for testing depending on the situation.
The East Sikkim persons were tracked and put under home observation by the the east district team. The four persons from West Sikkim were also tracked down by the west district team.
It was informed that details like how far away the tracked person was seated from the infected person and whether they came in close contact with the infected person would also be taken into consideration. These are the standard operating procedures in such situation and people should not panic, it was appealed.
